This is a limited addition of 50 bronzes and one artist proof.
This bronze has the unique characteristic of the horse being entirely supported by the man's arm and his foot touching the stirrup. The clearance between the horse's feet and the ground is clearly visible.
Extreme attention to detail has made this a piece which is as interesting for close viewing as from a distance for the overall effect. The jacket has visible stitching, buttons and buttonholes. There is a wallet in the man's back pocket.
While creating this piece, I originally had the foot further through the stirrup, then reworked it so his boot won't hang and drag the rider after his fall. The saddle is modeled after a Tex Tan saddle I ride. On the fender it says "US TEX-TAN 1943" and is probably a military mule packers saddle.
Our veterinarian was consulted to verify that the horse's conformation is correct, so I guess you could say the horse has been "Vet checked"!
